More About Amegy Bank Login

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Amegy Bank of Texas was originally started as Southwest Bank of Texas in 1990. Amegy bank was started by Walter Johnson. Mr. Johnson originally founded the company for Texans by Texans. After experiencing and witnessing the economic downturn during the 1980′ and the toll it took on both the energy and real estate market, he was certain there was a more efficient way to do banking in Texas. Mr. Johnson had a vision as to how to get this done.

He recruited 135 Texans to invest in a start up venture that utilized a local board for decision making for the bank. After raising $13.5 in start up capital, Walter was ready to open the first branch.

The bank went public in January 1997. The value went from $160 million to approximately $1.5 billion as of 2005. After acquiring several other banks via mergers throughout the years and then becoming a member of Zion Bancorporation, Amegy bank is now the third largest bank in the corporation giant. As of today, there are 80 branch location scattered in the great state of Texas and over 140 ATM’s operating.
